As you move around the Elementary School section, you can see our youngsters enthusiastically involved in interactive learning through age-appropriate activities, games, research and plays as well as voluntarily participating in community service and environmental awareness activities, with the values of Respect, Responsibility and Relationship at the heart of their endeavors.
The core of LWIS-CiS’s mission is to promote and inspire learners, actively involving them in their education, both inside and outside the classroom walls, and empowering them with freedom of choice and self-expression. By instilling confidence, critical thinking, global citizenship and self-direction, we equip learners with the fundamental skills and growth mindset needed for success in today’s dynamic and rapidly evolving world. Hence, an ongoing commitment at LWIS-CiS is to provide learners with a stimulating environment focused on nurturing the holistic development of each child and enabling our young learners to master new ways of thinking.
As educators, we understand that children learn at different paces and through various learning styles. Our primary goal is to empower learners by encouraging them to reflect on their learning, evaluate standards and establish goals and strategies for improvement. We support them in monitoring their own growth and progress through ongoing reflections and we implement strategies for continuous improvement and meaningful impact by utilizing a variety of pedagogies and technology tools. Moreover, as memorizing facts and information is no longer the most important skill in today’s world, we guide learners to become inquirers by assisting them in developing age-appropriate inquiry and research skills. Additionally, our teachers strive to inspire learners to become global citizens and future leaders by encouraging them to be decision-makers, like suggesting ideas for, or deciding to participate in, campaigns, tournaments, assemblies and other activities.
Central to our approach to promote well-being and social-emotional learning is mindfulness. Integrated into our classroom schedule and daily interactions, mindfulness does not only help reduce stress, improve focus and enhance cognitive performance and memory but also incorporates topics such as respect, gratitude, diversity and inclusion. This integration creates a supportive and nurturing environment for our learners to thrive.
While teachers and learners aim to work cooperatively in a healthy learning environment, it is only with the collaboration of parents and the LWIS-CIS community that this can be achieved. Parents are partners in learning, and sharing their questions or suggestions with the head of the section is essential for effective collaboration and the success of our learners.
Together, we can promote life-long learning.
